I have been working on a concept called “Emergency Managers for Disaster Relief” – in short, the development of an organization, comprised of emergency managers to facilitate and coordinate the core emergency management function at the field level during rapid onset international scope disasters. It is only an idea at this point, but one worth considering and discussing. It is to be presented during a session at the World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM) on Monday June 20.
