Research dilemma
I must apologize for being new to PTSC and am not sure if this is an appropriate venue for this post; feel free to berate me if such is the case.
My dilemma is this: I recently wrote a small litereature review paper on IT aspects of medical Heavy Urban Search and Rescue (HUSAR) teams. The paper essentially identifies a complete lack of research in this area. In one respect, it is a very narrow topic, yet it touches on a broader phenomenon, that of a rapid proliferation of technologies in all areas yet as often as not a lack of research and specifically data collection during actual events to justify and guide these technologies, let alone streamline, simplify, and otherwise mould them to better usefulness.
I am searching for a peer reviewed journal to submit the paper to, and have two concerns; first, there are many targets, from industry journals to informatics, medical, management, etc, so it is challenging to know who might be a receptive audience. Furthermore, I am dimly aware, but not at all clear on, the recent development of an online phenomenon of open peer review, circumventing the traditional and oh-so-slow process of submission and rejection.
A selfish post indeed, but I am keen to move forward and expand on the paper, so getting it out in an appropriate manner is a first step, and I would greatly appreciate input if anyone has experience in these areas.
Many thanks
Fraser
