Collaborative Work Tools
The Ontario Association of Emergency Managers (OAEM) recently embarked on a project to identify and evaluate collaborative work tools to facilitate conducting association and Board of Directors business in a more efficient and effective manner. This project has a twofold purpose because collaborative work tools can benefit OAEM members in developing and operating their emergency management programs as much of the activity involved on developing and operating a program involves communication and collaboration.
This wiki has been created to assist OAEM in collecting and sharing information on collaborative work tools and to expand the process of collecting and sharing this information to all PTSC-Online members. Please add your recommendations and comments to help build this body of knowledge.
Some of the tools identified to date are listed below:
- IGLOO OnLine Communities: PTSC-Online was developed using an IGLOO on line community provided by IGLOO Software, a Kitchener ON. based company. Igloo offers a combination of free and fee for service on line communities.
- Google Applications: Google provides a range of applications most of which focus on on-line communication and collaboration. A web site which focuses specifically on Google applications for emergency management is http://www.gemapplications/info
- GoToMeeting: A service which provides on line web conferencing and training.
